Crispy Fried Calamari for everyone

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound squid rings, cleaned and dried
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Tartar sauce or aioli (for dipping)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg and milk.
  2. Coat calamari: Dredge squid rings in flour mixture, then dip in egg mixture.
  3. Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Fry calamari in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Drain and serve: Remove calamari from fryer and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce.
