Start your day off with a hearty and flavorful Indonesian breakfast called Nasi Goreng. This classic dish is made with fried rice, vegetables, and your choice of protein, often chicken or shrimp. It’s a popular street food in Indonesia and is often served with a fried egg on top.

Recipe of Nasi Goreng

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 chili pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon sambal oelek (chili sauce)
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté vegetables: Add onion, garlic, and chili pepper to the skillet and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add rice: Add cooked rice to the skillet and break it up with a spatula. Cook until heated through and slightly crispy.
  4. Add seasonings: Stir in soy sauce, kecap manis, sambal oelek, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cook egg: Crack egg into a separate skillet and cook until sunny-side up.
  6. Serve: Serve nasi goreng with a fried egg on top.
