Recipe of Turkish Pide

Ingredients:

  • For the dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon yeast
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup warm water

  • For the toppings:
    • 1 pound ground beef or lamb
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 cup tomato paste
    • 1/4 cup olive oil
    • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
    • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Make the dough: In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and warm water. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a skillet, brown ground meat and onions. Add garlic, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until flavors have combined.
  3. Assemble pide: Roll out the dough into a large oval shape. Spread the meat mixture over the dough, leaving a small border. Top with mozzarella cheese and parsley.
  4. Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  5. Serve: Cut pide into wedges and serve immediately.
